Women’s Caucus to discuss grassroots organizing under a Trump presidency

GRAND RAPIDS January 13, 2017– “Trump is President! What do we do now?”

If you’ve found yourself uttering these words over the past few weeks, you’re invited to join the Kent-Ionia Labor Council’s Women’s Caucus on January 31 for a round-table discussion on organizing around real-life workplace issues under a Trump presidency.

We’ll be touching on the topics of equal pay for women, healthcare, career training, poverty alleviation and more, while discussing how we get busy through grassroots activism, community service and running for political office. The discussion will be geared toward women, but all are welcome to participate.

This discussion is being hosted by the KICLC Women’s Caucus, and is being held on Tuesday, womenlogo2Jaunary 31 at 5:30pm at the Kent-Ionia Labor Center, 918 Benjamin NE in Grand Rapids.

On the agenda for the meeting:

  • “Trump is President. What do we do now?” An open discussion around the election of Donald Trump, his inauguration, what we can expect over the first few months of his presidency, and what we can do locally to stand up for workers, women and families.
  • Setting goals for the caucus in 2017
  • Open discussion

If you’re a woman who is interested in helping to build a strong middle class, regardless of your union affiliation (or lack thereof), you are welcome to attend and be a part of the KICLC Women’s Caucus. Meetings last around an hour. For more information on the KICLC Women’s Caucus, click here.
