Growing and strengthening west Michigan's middle class
IONIA May 7, 2015– On Thursday, May 7 members of the west Michigan community are invited to gather at Ionia City Hall to express their opposition to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. The group will gather outside the town hall meeting of Congressman Justin Amash, and urge him to vote against a proposed “fast track” bill, that would speed up the passage of the TPP.
The group will express their concerns over the potential loss of jobs in Michigan if the TPP is enacted.
Twenty years after the passage of NAFTA, an estimated 1 million jobs have been lost in the United States due to outsourcing. The TPP trade deal could accelerate this distressing trend.
After rallying outside of City Hall, the group will attend the town hall meeting to speak to Congressman Amash about his position on the “Fast Track” legislation.
